Transfer credit status

Once you accept your offer of admission, you’ll receive an email with instructions for accessing your academic record. You’ll be able to view your transfer credits in VCU's online degree audit tool called Degree Works and your unofficial transcript in eServices.

Whenever possible, we post your transfer credits as VCU course equivalents to ensure those credits apply to VCU degree requirements. However, some courses may not have a VCU equivalent and will transfer as elective credits.

Some credits may not transfer to VCU for reasons including:

  • VCU has not received a final transcript with grades for the most recent semester. Call us at (804) 827-1349 to make sure we have your final transcript.
  • VCU cannot transfer in courses with grades below a C.
  • VCU can only accept credits from regionally accredited institutions.
  • VCU cannot accept technical (vocational) or occupational credits, such as credits earned in an applied associate degree.

For a re-evaluation of your transfer credits, fill out the Transfer Credit Inquiry Form

VCU GPA

Your VCU GPA will only be based on courses taken at VCU. However, grades accepted for transfer will be considered in terms of qualifying for graduation with honors.
