Transferring credits to VCU

VCU accepts credits, with qualifying scores or grades, from a wide range of college-level courses. For a full list of academic credit sources, visit the VCU Bulletin

Transfer course equivalents

Use our transfer course equivalents tool to see if courses you’ve completed at another institution have equivalents at VCU.

Other credit sources

In addition to courses taken at two- and four-year institutions, we evaluate credits earned from nontraditional higher education sources, including:

Credits earned in high school

College credits earned from dual-enrollment, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or Cambridge exams may transfer to VCU.

College Level Examination Program

CLEP scores could help you earn credit in an equivalent VCU course.

Military and ROTC credits

See the VCU Bulletin to explore what credits may transfer from military service and ROTC courses.

International universities

Check the course equivalents spreadsheet for information on transferring credits from study abroad programs and international universities.

Earning credit outside of VCU

Are you a current student looking to earn credits outside of VCU?  Submit the Request to Take Courses at Another Institution form to avoid duplicating previous coursework or violating VCU graduation policies. Your request must be approved before you can register for any courses outside VCU.
