VCU General Education Curriculum and the Approved Passport and Uniform Certificate of General Studies Course Roster
Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and Richard Bland College (RBC) students who complete approved courses for the Passport and Uniform Certificate of General Studies (UCGS) with minimum grades of “C” will be able to transfer those courses and apply them to VCU’s general education requirements (listed below). Students admitted to VCU who complete and earn the Uniform Certificate of General Studies prior to enrollment at VCU will receive an automatic waiver of all VCU’s general education requirements. This policy also applies to high school students who complete Passport and UCGS courses through dual enrollment programs.
VCU’s general education curriculum (ConnectED) consists of 30 credit hours divided into three sections: foundations, breadth of knowledge and areas of inquiry. While the foundations courses are distinct from the rest of the general education curriculum, the courses contained within the breadth of knowledge and areas of inquiry sections overlap.
